Homeless Outreach

The Lord Jesus Christ taught that we must not neglect the poor, homeless and destitute... "I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not..." [Matthew 25:42-43].

The Homeless Outreach ministry is currently engaged in a weekly community outreach program on Saturday mornings to the CASS homeless shelters in the Phoenix downtown area, to share with them some food, clothing, the Gospel and the love of Christ! Many lives are being impacted each week through this outreach effort. Many of the people from the shelters come to our Sunday Worship services, where they are receiving additional help and discipleship. Transportation to and from the Church services is provided for them through the Church Bus.

Outstanding testimonies abound weekly among these people to the glory of God! Several cases have been healed and delivered from drug and alcohol addition, as well as prostitution, and many have given their lives to Christ! Many of them now have their own apartments with good decent jobs, some have reconciled with their families, and one lady in her late forties even returned to school to complete her GED! In one case, during one of our Church services, one visitor from the homeless shelter who came in on a wheelchair (he had been in that condition for eight years due to spinal cord injury) was delivered and healed in the presence of everyone, and he walked and leaped around the Church and folded up his wheelchair! He came back to the Church service two weeks later walking straight by himself! Oh, The LORD is good!

All of these wonderful testimonies are as a result of the outreach efforts of our Above and Beyond Ministry, and we give all the glory to The LORD!

The LORD has given GMI a definite ministry to the poor, the homeless, the destitute, the disadvantaged and the under-privileged. We are witnessing a great moving of The Spirit of The LORD in this area. It reminds of this Scripture concerning David, "And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them..." [1 Samuel 22:3]

GMI hopes to establish a Foundation in the near future, to support this ministry and its work, as well as provide educational sponsorship in certain cases. We invite everyone to be a part of this wonderful ministry that takes the love of Christ to the people outside the Church! [Hebrews 13:13],[James 1:27],[Matthew 25:43].
